Rigobert Mougamba

Principal Geologist

Rigobert is a Principal Geologist with over 20 years of broad experience in the oil & gas industry, mostly across West Africa, but also internationally. He has a specialist sedimentological, seismic-sequence stratigraphic, petroleum systems analysis and reservoir characterisation background. He has participated in and led several integrated subsurface projects covering areas from frontier hydrocarbon exploration through discovery appraisals, field static modelling and (re-)development to new venture studies.

Prior to joining Springfield E&P, Rigobert held several technical and leadership roles within multinational consulting and operating companies, including Ajilon Engineering (now Modis) in France. As Consultant and Geosciences Team Manager of Ajilon, he led numerous technical programmes, mainly for Total E&P. He then joined the Total Group, first as a secondee (2001-2004) and then as a permanent staff member (2005-2013). Within the Total Group, he was successful as team player and leader of projects ranging from frontier and near-field exploration through to brownfield re-developments, mostly across Gabon (Diaba deep-offshore pre-salt block evaluation, Anguille giant offshore oilfield re-development and Angola (Major deep-water Kaombo oilfield recently brought on stream).

Most recently (2014-2017), Rigobert has worked for Maersk Oil in Denmark, leading re-evaluation of the Angola pre-salt prospectivity and static reservoir modelling studies for appraisal and development of green-fields from Brazil deep-water pre-salt (e.g., Wahoo, Itaipu), due-diligence technical evaluations in support of business development decisions (farm-in deal close-out over Kenyan oil assets of the South Lokichar Rift-Basin, Norway oilfield acquisitions), and coordinating annual reserves/resources evaluation for the Brazil Business Unit.

Since joining SEP, Rigobert is leading the Odum oil discovery appraisal programme whilst contributing to other significant integrated subsurface studies for a wide variety of objectives from exploration to development throughout the West Cape Three Points Block 2 and business development opportunities.

Rigobert received a Master of Sciences (MSc) and a doctorate (PhD) in Geosciences from the French Lille 1 University of Sciences and Technology, and has several publications to his credit.
