In keeping with its pledge to support the girl-child to attain academic and employment opportunities available to all, Springfield E&P on Friday August 31st 2018 presented $1,500 cash to the Akua Kuenyehia Foundation to support four brilliant underprivileged girls who won The Mandela Centennial Scholarship to go to college. The scholars will study at the African Leadership University (ALU) in Kigali, Rwanda, where they will benefit from a full scholarship and opportunities for leadership development.

Our financial support was part of a fund-raising effort by the Foundation to secure the four scholars personal care items, clothes, living expenses, health insurance amongst other items.

Presenting the cash to Mrs. Phyllis Kuenyehia, Coordinator of the fundraising effort and her team, Mr. Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield expressed his excitement about seeing girls who go the extra mile to excel in their academic pursuits and was therefore happy to support the young scholars.

He praised the Foundation for its foresight in identifying these girls from disadvantaged backgrounds to help bridge the gender gap and provide the platform for the society to develop holistically.

Mr. Okyere said he personally identified with the saying that educating the girl was educating an entire society and therefore whenever resources allowed, he would readily support the education of needy children wherever they may be.

Mrs. Kuenyehia thanked Springfield for the gesture and assured that the girls would be properly catered for and monitored to fulfill the expectations that all the donors had of them.
