SPRINGFIELD E & P ATTENDS AAPG ICE 2017 IN LONDON

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the world’s principal forum for geoscientists involved in the oil industry, held their annual International Conference and Exhibition (AAPG ICE) at the ExCel Centre, London from 15th – 18th October, 2017. AAPG ICE is a major event for the industry each year, typically attracting around 1500 delegates as it moves around the international “Oil Patch”. With most of the world’s oil companies having a significant presence in the UK, especially with respect to their operations outside the USA, London proved a very popular location for this year’s conference.

Springfield E&P (SEP) saw taking a booth at this year’s convention as an excellent opportunity to bring the company and our West Cape Three Points Block 2 (WCTP2) licence to the attention of the industry’s decision makers.

SEP’s stand was well located, close to the International Pavilion, and attracted many visitors from oil companies and contractors, particularly those with an interest in West Africa. The posters were designed to explain how Springfield E&P fitted in to the Springfield Group as well as giving details of how the WCTP2 licence fits into the petroleum geology of West Africa in general and Ghana’s deep water Tano Basin in particular.

They also detailed some of the work that Springfield E&P has accomplished since being awarded the block in 2016, including G&G studies and the acquisition of the 2017 Broadband 3D seismic survey.

As a relatively “new kid on the block” in terms of oil exploration and production, it was deemed important to make the industry at large aware of our presence and to show that, despite our youth, the company is developing WCTP2, our principal asset, in a responsible and innovative way.

Over the three days of the conference, in addition to casual visitors browsing the Springfield stand, more than 200 delegates engaged in deeper conversations with our staff regarding the company and our plans for the block.

All in all, the objectives of the company were certainly met by the conference and exhibition and Springfield E&P, WCTP2 and the Tano Basin of Ghana are now much better known amongst the industry’s players. We look forward to Cape Town in 2018!
