Junior Systems Specialist

Springfield Exploration and Production Limited (SEP) is one of the newest entrants into Ghana’s rapidly growing oil and gas industry. SEP is seeking an experienced Junior Systems Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining and administering information systems and able to Update Springfield Groups websites. The Junior System Specialist will support the System administrator to ensure SEP information systems are up and running with no or minimal downtime.

This position will report to IT Manager. While the primary purpose requires a good understanding of Information systems, problem-solving attitude, good trouble shooting skills, critical thinking, and indebt knowledge in Web Development and content management systems this position requires a combination of overall technical skill-set.


  • Perform System Tuning and Resource Management trouble shooting skills.
  • Must have Knowledge and be able to build virtual machines (VMWare, Hyper-V, related technologies) and web management.
  • Integrate the functionality of web software and graphics applications, such as (but not limited to) HTML5/CSS, Dreamweaver, PHP, Java, Script, Joomla, Drupal FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and Macromedia tools.
  • Assist in installing local area network cabling systems and equipment such as network interface cards, hubs and switches where needed.
  • Administer the Windows environment including Windows Server 2012R2, Windows Client 7 and 10, and office 2013, backup/restore administration, ensure secure use and administration of all systems and client passwords, as well as individual and group information access rights
  • Assist in Data/Voice/Communication systems
  • Assist in administering access control of data, e-mail, telephone and other IT and communication resources
  • Install, support, and maintain systems, respond to service outages, ensure optimization and efficient performance of servers and applications; develop and manage utilities



  • Provide Computer Systems and Network Support
  • Provide security support , installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of all site hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Network and User Issues
  • Administer Active Directory
  • System Administration and Helpdesk Support (laptops, desktops)
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all hardware, systems and software licensing
  • System Performance Tuning and Resource Management
  • Develop and maintain an intranet for the SEP
  • Develop web communications strategy for unit, consistent with the overall communication and public relations strategy for Springfield group of Companies.
  • Designs and manages the content and graphic design elements for web sites supporting the unit.
  • Responsible for content and technical development, implementation and maintenance of sites, coordinating site links, and uploading material to servers.
  • Updates information for web sites.
  • Maintains and updates information regularly to ensure currency of information.
  • Applies consistent web standards and guidelines for style, content, and code consistent with organizational policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as the go-to-person for web communication initiatives
  • Evaluates usability and utilization of web pages, implementing planned improvements based on user feedback.
  • Supports other print and media communication projects for the organization as required.
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, object oriented Programming and web application development.
  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools and ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of windows and Linux server technologies.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information technology, or related field.
  • 2 years of working experience in related positions
  • Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may accepted in lieu of required experience.



  • At least three years of PC hardware, software and network technical support.
  • Three years of experience with Windows, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, WinZip. Experience Installing, configuring and troubleshooting software and using Remote Desktop access.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting windows 7 and 8
  • Experience with basic printer maintenance.
  • Experience using a trouble ticket system.
  • Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: Associates or Bachelor’s degree * Experience with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. * MCP, MCITP, MCSA or MCSE certification.
